International scientific research has shown that sexual health is a fundamental requisite for general health, well-being and human development. The World Health Organization (WHO) Declaration of Sexual Rights (2004, 2006) is grounded on the premise that the promotion of human development will necessarily involve sexuality, sexual health and sexual rights entitlement. These goals are driven by scientific advances in sexology (biology, medicine, psychology, sociology) that inform effective programs in sexual health improvement and prevention.
